The summer had many K-drama highlights, but my personal favourite of the last few months was Doctors. Starring Park Shin-hye and Kim Rae-won, this drama had very high ratings.
The story line
So the drama is about Yoo Hye-jung (Park Shin-hye) who was a stubborn girl in school and she had a gangster personality. Due to her many childhood scars, Hye-jung is not very social in school. However, she changes after meeting her mentor Hong Ji-hong (Kim Rae-won), who plays a big part in transforming her life from a hopeless adolescent to a compassionate doctor. They part ways subsequently but meet again after 13 years, when Yoo Hye-jung becomes a doctor.
I personally loved the story line as a whole. Normally I’m not a really big fan of all the romance but this romantic story is really enjoyable. The storyline between the two main characters is sweet but not too sweet. It is still realistic and believable. Sometimes the medical stories aren’t always realistic, in fact sometimes really cliché, yet it does compensate with the good acting and then it still was interesting to watch. The love triangle in the beginning was a bit annoying but in the end I did have peace with it. I liked the fact that at the end the only official relationship turned out to be Hye-jung’s and Ji-hong’s.
The two main actors are in no doubt casted wonderfully. They portray the characters so well that at one point I really thought they could be together in real life too. In the beginning I thought Lee Sung-kyung wasn’t a really great actress and her acting didn’t look as realistic as the other’s, but as the show continued I ended up liking her more and more. Especially near the end, she was really into her element and she nailed it, together with Yoon Gyung-sang. My personal favourite actor of this drama is Kim Min-suk. I already knew him from Descendants Of The Sun, but I didn’t expect him to be even better in this drama. His acting makes his character so lovable, and thank goodness he made it until the end!
So what do you guys think? Did you enjoy everything or were there some disappointing moments for you?
With the official debut of I.O.I. coming up very soon I thought it would be a good idea to look back on some of the performances of produce 101. As you can imagine this post features all the spoilers, so if you have not watched the show yet go watch it no...
Dear patients and readers, In Korea, being polite is very important. This means you have to know how old someone is, what their status is and how their position compares to yours.
